Storage Catford Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Catford in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains. Storage Catford is committed to conducting business ethically, responsibly, and with full respect for the rights and dignity of every individual.
Our Organisation and Supply Chains
Storage Catford provides storage and related services to individuals and businesses. Our operations are based in the United Kingdom, and our supply chains include suppliers of facilities management, security, cleaning, construction and maintenance services, utilities, equipment, packaging materials, and professional services. We recognise that certain sectors and geographies can present higher risks of labour exploitation, and we are committed to taking proportionate and effective steps to manage these risks.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
Storage Catford has a zero-tolerance policy to all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour. We do not tolerate any practices that are inconsistent with the protection of human rights in our own operations or in the activities of our suppliers and business partners. All colleagues, contractors, and suppliers are expected to act in line with this policy and comply with all applicable laws relating to modern slavery and human rights.
We aim to embed this zero-tolerance approach through our policies, training, and day-to-day decision making. Any actual or suspected breach of this policy is taken extremely seriously and may result in the termination of contracts or other appropriate remedial actions.
Policies and Governance
Our approach to modern slavery is supported by a framework of internal policies that set expectations for ethical conduct, including codes of conduct, recruitment practices, and supplier standards. Responsibility for overseeing our modern slavery efforts sits with senior management, who review our risk areas and approve key actions to strengthen our controls.
We seek to ensure that all recruitment is carried out directly or through reputable agencies that share our commitment to preventing exploitation, and we verify that all employees have the right to work in the country in which they are employed.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
Storage Catford expects all suppliers and contractors to uphold standards that are consistent with our zero-tolerance approach. We are working to incorporate modern slavery clauses and ethical requirements into our supplier arrangements, particularly in higher-risk categories such as construction, cleaning, and facilities services.
We conduct proportionate due diligence during supplier onboarding and review existing suppliers where risk indicators are identified. This may include requests for information on labour practices, policies, training, and the use of sub-contractors. Where we identify heightened risk, we may carry out additional scrutiny, including audits or site visits, to assess compliance with our expectations.
If a supplier is found to be involved in modern slavery or fails to take adequate corrective action, Storage Catford reserves the right to suspend or terminate the relationship.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our colleagues, particularly those involved in procurement, facilities management, and supplier oversight. Training and guidance help our teams recognise warning signs of exploitation, understand reporting channels, and embed our zero-tolerance stance in everyday operations.
Reporting Concerns and Protection
Storage Catford encourages anyone who has concerns about potential modern slavery or human trafficking in our operations or supply chains to report them without delay. Colleagues can raise concerns with their line manager or through internal reporting channels. We also encourage suppliers and other stakeholders to notify us if they become aware of any conduct that may be inconsistent with this statement.
We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith. Reports will be taken seriously, handled sensitively, and, where appropriate, investigated and escalated to senior management for further action.
Monitoring, Improvement, and Annual Review
Storage Catford understands that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. We will continue to review our risk assessments, supplier due diligence, and training activities to identify opportunities for improvement. Lessons learned from audits, investigations, and stakeholder feedback will inform enhancements to our policies and procedures.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by senior management to ensure it remains accurate, effective, and aligned with legislative requirements and best practice. Any significant updates or changes in our approach will be reflected in future versions of this statement.
This statement has been approved by the management of Storage Catford, who are committed to its implementation and to continuous improvement in the prevention of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
